Physical Education
|
Physical Education credit is given through a combination of independent P.E. activities and group classes. They must log 240 minutes of PE activities per week. These logs are posted on Google Classroom every Monday. Students record activity on these logs and turn in to the classroom Friday afternoons. These activities can be anything associated with California PE standards. Please visit the CDE website below and see standards for your child. Ideas for acceptable activities are...swimming, walking, playing sports, skateboarding, diet and menu planning, or riding bikes.
When COVID safety issues subside optional P.E. classes will resume on Monday mornings. Students are provided opportunities for peer interaction, physical activity and team building. These may include basketball games, tennis, frisbee golf, crossfit games, and mile runs. Another monthly activity is monitoring of student fitness levels that are part of the California Physical Fitness Testing. All 7th graders participate in this formal state testing every March as well. Please see monthly schedule below for activities. The health and well-being of a child directly effects their academic performance. Families are encouraged to support their student in activities that promote the following areas: cardiovascular health, strength training, flexibility, group sports, health and nutrition. |
